Primary Care Providers

Russell V. Brant, M.D.

Dr. Russell Brant joined Sumter Family Health Center’s (SFHC’s) staff in 1996 and has served as SFHC’s Medical Director since 2002. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and received his doctorate of medicine from Indiana University School of Medicine. Prior to his employment at SFHC, Dr. Brant was a staff physician at Tuomey Medical Park, and also worked in Lancaster and Kershaw county. Dr. Brant and his wife reside in Camden, SC, and have four children and one grandchild.

Richard “Lee” Denny, M.D.

Dr. Lee Denny joined SFHC’s staff in 2004, and serves as SFHC’s walk-in patient provider. Dr. Denny is Board Certified in Family Medicine, and received his undergraduate degree from Clemson University, and his doctorate of medicine from Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University. Prior to his employment with the Center, Dr. Denny was a staff physician at the Veterans Outpatient Clinic in Sumter and operated a private practice for many years. Dr. Denny and his wife reside in Sumter and have two children and one grandchild.


Leslie “Les” Beben, PA-C

Les joined SFHC’s staff in 2005 and currently works at both the Sumter and Pinewood facilities. Les is a Board Certified Physician’s Assistant (PA-C). He was trained by the US Air Force and received his PA degree from the University of Nebraska School of Medicine. Les is a retired military officer who worked at Shaw AFB until 1996 when he began working in Sumter. Les has a special interest in the elderly and he provides care for many of the Center’s aging patients. Les and his wife reside in Sumter and have four children and two grandchildren.

Donna Mizelle, M.D.

Dr. Donna Mizelle joined SFHC’s staff in 2008, and serves as SFHC’s part-time walk-in Provider. Dr. Mizelle is Board Certified in Family Medicine, and received her undergraduate degree from Campbell University, and her doctorate of medicine from Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Mizelle completed her Family Practice residency program in Greenwood, S.C. Prior to her employment with the Center, Dr. Mizelle worked at Benson Medical Center in N.C. Dr. Mizelle is originally from Greensboro N.C., and she and her husband Stuart currently reside in Sumter with their two daughters.

Celia Herring, MSN, FNP-C, GNP

Celia joined SFHC’s staff in 2008 and currently works at both the Sumter and Pinewood facilities. Celia is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (GNP). She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and completed dual post Master’s programs for Nurse Practitioner from the Medical University of South Carolina. Celia has twenty-six (26) years of prior experience in the health care profession working in home health and hospitals in the local area.

Cynthia Richardson, MSN, FNP-C, GNP

Cynthia joined SFHC’s staff in 2008. Cynthia is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner (GNP). She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix and completed dual Post Masters programs for Nurse Practitioner from the Medical University of South Carolina. Cynthia has eighteen (18) years of prior experience in the health care profession working in home health and hospitals in the local area.

W. Myat

Win Myat, M.D.

Dr. Win Myat joined SFHC's staff in 2008 and also is currently an active staff member specializing in infectious diseases at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. He was trained in infectious diseases at State University of New York at Syracuse. He received his MD degree from Ross University School of Medicine at Dominica, and completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at New York Methodist Hospital, Brooklyn, New York. He also serves as a consultant for Infection Control and Epidemiology at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Dr. Myat is board certified in Internal Medicine, and Infectious Diseases.
