Nelson
H. Sturgis, M.D.
Dr. Nelson Sturgis
joined SFHC’s staff in 2006 and currently serves pediatric patients
at both the Sumter and Pinewood facilities. Dr. Sturgis is a Board
Certified Pediatrician, and received his undergraduate degree from
Boston University and his doctorate of Medicine from the University
of Vermont College of Medicine. Prior to his employment with the
Center, Dr. Sturgis worked many years as a staff physician at Sumter
Pediatrics, was in private practice in Vermont, and served as a
pediatrician in the United States Air Force for eight years. Dr.
Sturgis and his wife reside in Sumter and have three children and
four grandchildren.

Patricia
"Patti" Trzcinski, MSN, CPNP
Patti
joined SFHC’s staff in 1996 as a pediatric nurse. Patti completed
her Master’s Degree in Nursing with an emphasis in pediatrics at the
University of South Carolina in 1999. Since then she has been
practicing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP). Patti is
certified by the National Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and
Nurses, and is a member of the National Association of Pediatric
Nurse Practitioners. A native of Miami, Florida, Patti and her
husband reside in Sumter with their three daughters.

Melinda Carr, PA-C
Melinda joined SFHC’s staff in 2011.
Melinda is a board certified Physician Assistant serving the
pediatric patients at SFHC. She received her Master’s Degree in
Physician Assisting from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Melinda specialized in Emergency Medicine before coming to SFHC. She
is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and
active in the South Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants,
serving as the Vice Present. She also has considerable Medical
military experience. Her past experience includes time spent serving
in the United States Air Force as an Emergency Medicine Technician
and she is currently in the USAF Reserves. She and her husband
reside in Sumter.
