OB/GYNCarol B. Alan, MD

Dr. Alan joined SFHC’s women’s health team in 2006 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists’ (CWS) Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Dr. Alan is a Board Certified OB/GYN and Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. A native of Winston-Salem, NC, she received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. She received her doctorate of medicine from Johns Hopkins University and completed her residency at Duke University. Dr. Alan is married and resides in Sumter with her husband and three daughters.

 

 

 

OB/GYNGiselle Chandler, MD

Dr. Chandler joined SFHC’s women’s health team in 2011 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists’ (CWS) Obstetrician/Gynecologist. A native of Trinidad and Tobago, she migrated to the U.S. to pursue a degree in biology at St. John’s University in Queens, N.Y. She received her doctorate of medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in the Caribbean. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Carolina Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Chandler lives in Sumter with her husband.

 

 

 

OB/GYN

Barney Williams, MD

Dr. Williams joined SFHC’s women’s health team in 2011 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists’ (CWS) Gynecologist. Dr. Williams is a Board Certified OB/GYN. Dr. Williams received his doctorate of medicine from Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and completed his residency at MUSC as well. He has over 44 years of experience. He and his wife reside in Sumter and have three children and eight grandchildren.

 

 

 

OB/GYNJohn J. Britton, MD

Dr. Britton joined SFHC’s women’s health team in 2011 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists’ (CWS) Gynecologist. He is graduate of Clemson University and the Medical University of South Carolina, completed his internship at the University of Miami (Fla.) and residency in OB/GYN at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA. Dr. Britton is a Board Certified OB/GYN and has over 44 years of experience in Sumter. He and his wife, Connie, reside in Sumter and have four children and ten grandchildren.

 

 

 

Joel Snipe , MD

Dr. Snipe joined SFHC’s staff in the summer of 2014 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists staff Obstetrician/Gynecologist. A native of Sumter, SC, she graduated from Clemson University with a biology sciences degree and a minor in women’s studies. She received her doctorate of medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. Her professional interests are adolescent gynecological care, minimally invasive surgical procedures and perinatal care. Dr. Snipe has returned to this lovely city with her husband and children and is looking forward to taking care of you.

 

 

MidwifeJaime Pickering, CNM

Jaime Pickering joined the SFHC’s women’s health staff in July 2011 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists’ (CWS) Midwife. She is a Certified Nurse-Midwife who graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in Nashville, TN with her Master’s degree in Nursing, specializing in Nurse-Midwifery. She is an active member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) and serves as the Vice-President of the South Carolina Chapter of ACNM. Her past experience includes time spent serving in the Army. Jaime is originally from Phoenix, AZ and now lives in Sumter with her daughter and son.

 

 

 

MidwifeGwenneth Simmonds, CNM

Gwenneth joined the SFHC women’s health team in November 2011 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists’ (CWS) Midwife. She is a Certified Nurse-Midwife who graduated from the University of Kentucky with her Master’s degree in Nursing, specializing in Nurse-Midwifery. She is an active member of the American College of Nurse-Midwives and serves as the Treasurer of the South Carolina Chapter of ACNM. A native of St. Kitts, West Indies she is retired from the US Army Nurse Corps and is an experienced nurse educator. Gwenneth resides in Columbia, she is divorced and the mother of one adult son.

 

 

 

MidwifeLydia Elliot, CNM

Lydia Elliott joined SFHC's women's health team in 2015 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse-Midwife. She is a native of Charleston and attended USC Columbia as a Palmetto Fellows scholar. She received her Masters of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Lydia and her husband live in Sumter with their cat Rocket and their small grumpy dog Betty.

 

 

 

MidwifeBrittany Hooks, CNM

Brittany Hooks joined SFHC's women's health team in 2016 and serves as a Carolina Women’s Specialists (CWS) Midwife. She earned her bachelor's degree in Health Science at Clemson University (Go Tigers!) and later enrolled into an accelerated program to earn a second bachelor's degree in nursing. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Brittany is originally from South Carolina and is engaged to be married soon..
